Everything you need to know about prp facials

PRP facials have earned a following for good reason. By using the healing power of your own blood, this treatment refreshes and renews the skin with something completely natural to your body. At Toribella, we pair PRP with microneedling or Morpheus8 to deliver growth factors deep into the skin, helping to improve tone, texture, and overall glow. It's a treatment that works with your body rather than against it, and the results speak for themselves.

What is a PRP facial?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma, and at Toribella a PRP facial AKA Vampire Facial means microneedling or RF microneedling combined with your own PRP. We numb the skin, draw a small amount of your blood, and spin it in a centrifuge to separate out the healthy growth factors. Then we begin a session of microneedling,  creating millions of tiny micro-channels in the skin and apply the PRP right over those channels so it can absorb where it does the most good. The result is an incredible glow, and it helps with imperfections and overall skin quality. Because it's your own blood, there's a very low risk of any adverse reaction.

How does using your own blood plasma improve the skin?

The plasma carries the good stuff from your blood: the growth factors and the components that help your skin heal and rebuild. Delivered into freshly microneedled skin, they speed up healing and enhance the result. One thing worth knowing: the quality of your PRP tracks with your overall health, so a healthy person's PRP tends to be richer than that of someone who is unwell or elderly. Many people love that it's entirely their own, not something synthetic.

Can PRP be combined with other treatments?

Beyond the facial, PRP can also be injected: under the eyes for hollows and dark circles, where it helps build collagen and address what is often a volume issue; into the nasolabial folds; and into the scalp to help stimulate hair growth.

Is there downtime with a PRP facial?

The nice part is that adding PRP to microneedling or Morpheus8 actually hastens your healing. You can expect to be red for around 24 hours, and for some people up to three days, though that's less common. For PRP injections, expect some swelling up to about 72 hours.

Is a PRP facial the same as a vampire facial?

Yes — they're the same thing. "Vampire facial" is just the popular nickname for a PRP facial, since it uses your own blood.
