What to Expect Before, During, and After Treatment

During treatment: A numbing cream is applied and left on for 25 minutes before treatment begins. After cleaning the skin and prepping with an antiseptic, your provider passes over the treatment area with the SkinPen device. The clinical endpoint — mild redness and pinpoint bleeding — signals that collagen stimulation has been triggered. The full treatment takes approximately one hour.
After treatment: You'll leave with a post-care kit that includes a cream, a mask, and written instructions. For the first 24 hours: avoid heat, do not wash the treated area, and avoid workouts, saunas, and hot tubs. Apply healing ointment as directed. Sunscreen is essential — your skin will be photosensitive during recovery.
