Before anything begins, Marissa takes 10 to 15 minutes to go through what you’re looking for: specific concerns you want to address, sensitivities, reactions to past products, or simply wanting to try something new and let her assess from there.

Every step that follows is selected based on what she actually finds — not a fixed menu of steps applied the same way to every client.

Relaxation is one of the most common reasons people book. There’s real value in an hour of being cared for without having to think about anything. But facials at Toribella also address:

What to Expect

Before your appointment: No retinol or tretinoin for 48 hours prior. These sensitize the skin — if you’ve been using actives, your barrier may not tolerate the exfoliation that would otherwise be possible. If you’ve had a lash lift within 24 hours, wait a day or two before coming in; steam and hot towels can affect the results. After Botox: wait at least 7 days. After fillers: wait 2 weeks. If you’re currently on Accutane or have gone off it recently: wait 6 months after your last dose before booking a facial.

Makeup is not a concern. Marissa double cleanses every client, so coming straight from work is completely fine.

During your treatment: Every facial starts with aromatherapy — a set of oils applied to help you settle in and actually relax before anything else begins. From there:

Double cleanse to remove everything on the surface

Skin exam under a magnifying lamp — Marissa looks for concerns you’ve mentioned and ones you may not know are there

Exfoliation — customized to your skin’s tolerance, ranging from gentle enzymes to chemical peels; dermaplaning can also be layered in as a mechanical exfoliation step before the enzyme layer, giving a deeper result

Extractions — blackheads, congestion, sebaceous filaments — as much as your skin allows that day

Facial massage — shoulders, neck, hands, arms, and face

Final masking — chosen from 10 to 15 masks based on your skin’s needs, applied while the shoulder and neck massage continues

Finishing products and a closing aromatherapy pass

After your treatment: For a standard facial, your regular routine (including actives) can resume the next day. For treatments involving intense exfoliation or a dermaplane-and-peel combination, keep things gentle and skip actives for two days.
